Canicross

Covering the West Pennine Moors, Bolton, Chorley and Wigan area, I offer a range of instruction in Canicross, from the complete beginner, to the more advanced social trail runs. I am a DogFit qualified Canicross instructor, and my passion lies in helping people discover the joy of running with their dogs.

Since adopting a highly prey-driven rescue dog I have been introduced to the benefits of Canicross running in particular, as it’s the perfect way to exercise her safely, without fear of her chasing all the sheep and deer we have on the moors here, as well as helping her utilise all that energy! It has also proven a fantastic way for us to bond.

I offer taster sessions for beginners, as well as organising regular pack runs for runners and their dogs.

Canicross Taster Sessions

If canicross is completely new to you, a taster sessions is the perfect opportunity for you to borrow some kit and give canicross a try under the eye of a trained instructor. Canicross are usually 1:1 (although sometimes couples attend together too) and normally last around 45 minutes to an hour. The cost is £25 and kit hire is included. Please complete the form below to book onto a taster session.

Pack Runs

Social pack runs are great fun, and are always at a very easy pace, exploring a different route each time. The dogs love being somewhere different, socialising with the other dogs, and their owners seem to enjoy it too!

You can hire kit on my social runs for an additional £10 (subject to availability – pre-booking essential). However, if you have not tried canicross before, please book onto a taster session first.

Code Of Practice

As your dog is always attached to you when taking part in canicross, this makes it a wonderful training tool as they are encouraged to socialise with other dogs and people in a safe and controlled way. Your dog is very welcome – we just ask that you take appropriate steps to ensure the safety and comfort of those around you.

You are responsible for your dog at all times so this may mean keeping your dog at a safe distance from the other dogs, running at the back of the group rather than in the middle and using a muzzle if deemed necessary. I reserve the right to exclude a participant from the class if their dog is disruptive.
